The Hawthorne’s first Highland Games took part on Thursday 5th May. The event included the running kilty dash, tossing the caber among many other traditional activities.  The students were divided into teams and the winners were Caitlin Orford, Ellie Spicer, Demi Leigh Little-Wales, Reece Halliwell, Reece Orford, Jack Craddock,  Joe Doran and Aaron Woods.

All of the students competed with tremendous effort and a sense of fair play,  officiating their own events. For the afternoon session we welcomed Year 5 and 6 pupils from Our Lady of Walsingham, St Monica’s and St Oswald’s.  The leaders for this event were The Hawthorne’s Year 7 pupils.  Their organisation, behaviour, manners and effectiveness within their roles was faultless and the organising company Sportshall Athletics credited them with the successful running of the event.

Well Done      Miss Rawstron
