Thursday the 4th of October saw National Poetry Day being celebrated here at King’s Leadership Hawthornes with staff sharing memories of their favourite poems to pupils and a poetry recital event taking place in our library at lunch time.
Pupils from across years 7-9 arrived to read and discuss a selection of works, ranging from Rudyard Kipling, John Agard and a firm favourite of our pupils, Benjamin Zephaniah!
Pupils worked on their pieces with great professionalism and dedication and have asked if they can perform during our next rewards assembly. We can not wait to see them in action!
“Poetry is when an emotion has found its thought and the thought has found words”- Robert Frost
This day is dedicated in loving memory of Joanne Gaul. Friend of King’s Leadership and lover of poetry.
