CIARA BENN'S KING'S JOURNEY

My aspiration is to be a Paediatric Social Worker because I feel I can help children going through troubled times to express their worries and open up about their problems.
As well as a very strong academic timetable, our school focusses on character and leadership. We have a range of extra-curricular activities such as choir, which is my passion, and our choir mistress, Mrs Hambleton, is an amazing teacher as she encourages us to express ourselves through Musical Theatre.
As a member of the choir, I feel my character has developed because of the opportunities I have received at King’s Hawthornes. I have sung at many prestigious venues including the Tate Gallery in Liverpool, where I took part in their raising mental awareness week.
I have also developed my leadership skills through joining the choir as I have been given the opportunity to lead primary school choirs and engage them in Performing Arts. We have recently held a show called ‘Night at the Musicals’ in which we performed songs from famous West End musicals. The choir went on a trip to London to see ‘Wicked’ the musical and we had an amazing workshop at the famous Pineapple Dance Studio. Our show starred 75 primary school children. Since joining the choir, I have grown in confidence and have become a positive role model for people to follow.
