The Hawthorne’s Free School has started the new academic year with a new name, new look and new uniform.  The secondary school joined The Great Schools Trust back in 2015, a values led multi-academy trust, which brings together King’s Leadership Academy Warrington, King’s Leadership Academy Liverpool and The Hawthorne’s Free School. 

This month The Hawthorne’s relaunched as King’s Leadership Academy Hawthornes with updated school signage and interiors, and a brand new uniform for its pupils.

Peter Gaul, the school’s Head Teacher, commented, ‘It will be a whole new chapter in the life of our school and community. At King’s Hawthornes, we aim to offer a school that provides the highest of academic standards.  We pride ourselves on excellence in the classroom and rigorous preparation for the crucial public exams at the end of Year 11. However, we also offer a wide experience that is centred on our core ‘Aspire Values’. We are preparing our young people to become the leaders and citizens of tomorrow and we expect a great deal of them’.

The CEO of The Great Schools Trust, Sir Iain Hall, who was knighted in 2002 for ‘services to education’, commented, ‘As a trust, we do not believe that a student’s intelligence is fixed and that some are ‘brighter’ than others. We believe that all of our students at King’s Hawthornes can achieve excellence if they work hard enough and have the right educational support’.

Mr Gaul went on to say, ‘Our goal as a school isn’t ‘to do the curriculum’: it is to create artists and singers, mathematicians and historians, scientists and scholars who can achieve the highest of grades and gain entry to the best jobs, courses, colleges and universities.
