Year 7 Brathay Hall Residential Visit

As part of The Foundations’ Transitional Programme, we will be taking all year 7 students on a residential visit to the Brathay Leadership Centre in Ambleside on 23^rd/24^th October. The aims of the tow day course are to develop leadership and team work skills in our students. We will depart The Hawthorne’s at 8.30am on Thursday and return approx 4.00pm on Friday.

During our visit students will be participate in high ropes activities, fell walking, orienteering and rowing on Lake Windermere. All activities are delivered by fully qualified staff from Brathay with the support of Hawthorne’s staff.

Items Required

Students need to bring sufficient clothing to last for 2 days. They can bring their own outdoor wear but The Brathay centre will provide all necessary outdoor and safety clothing and equipment such as a waterproof jacket and trousers, walking boots and specialist equipment for all activities.

Students are asked to pack the following essential items:

• personal toiletries
• towel
• pair of trainers you don’t mind getting wet
• warm jumpers
• a set of clothes you don’t mind getting dirty
• two or more pairs of comfortable trousers or leggings (jeans are not suitable for activities)
• thick socks
• gloves
• woolly hat
• a clean change of clothes for the evening

Other optional items include:

• a torch
• a book
• a camera
• board games.

Please note that students are not to bring their phones.

They may bring a small amount of money as there is a tuck shop on site which students may use to purchase refreshments after their evening meal, but hot and cold drinks and toast are served in the kitchen throughout the day and evening at no charge.
